Once upon a time I met a beautiful Polish girl with killer blonde locks who had a penchant for photo negatives, her golden dog and art in most forms. She used to come to New York on the weekends and work at a museum in Connecticut during the weeks. After traveling to Poland, Berlin, Russia and more places I can't remember she decided to meet up with her partner in Paris and make a go of this business of collaboration, empowerment and curation in the art world. There are many mind boggling and wondrous things hiding in the nooks, crannies and crevices of the internet.Every once and a while one of those things will hit me like a ton of bricks to the face, or in this case a couple hundred gallons of paint paired with a knack for stop motion cinematography. The amazing, BUST loving, performance artist Ann Magnuson is returning to NYC after nine years to bring us her newest performance piece DUELING HARPS.  In the piece Ann Magnuson and Adam Dugas battle it out vocally over the musical accompaniment of harps played by Mia Theodoratus and Alexander Rannie. Their melodic ammo includes familiar sounds from the likes of Henry Purcell’s Baroque art songs, Kraftwerk, Buffy St. Marie, Lee Hazlewood, and Pink Floyd, as well as original songs by Magnuson and Dugas. Illustrator and cartoonist Vanessa Davis brings us another collection of her autobiographical comic strips in her new book, "Make me a Woman". Her reflective style is enhanced by her witty humor in this fun and intimate new book, which she will talk about tomorrow night, October 6th, at The Strand in New York City.
