Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier’s New Album Brings Chill Vibes And Hypnotic Rhythms

by Kathryn Hensch

Saturated in chill vibes and hypnotic rhythms, Rooting for Love is the latest solo work from Stereolab’s prolific Laetitia Sadier, who brings her signature buttery vocals to the LP’s English and French lyrics. The instrumentation is varied and surprising, creating a unique sonic flavor on each of the 10 tracks––there’s a slow eruption of guitars and drums on “New Moon,” a twinkle of synths on “Protéïformunité,” and a surprising orchestral foreground on “Panser L’Inacceptable.” Fans of her previous work and new listeners alike will find the album as diverse and cool as Sadier herself.
