10 Movies, Shows And Other Pop Culture Goodies You Don’t Want To Miss This Spring

1. Love Lies Bleeding

In this bisexual bodybuilding revenge story, Kristen Stewart plays a gym employee who falls in love with a bodybuilder (Katy O’Brian). But when K Stew’s criminal family pulls them into their world of violence, it sets them off on a bloody journey. Directed and co-written by Rose Glass, the film also features Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco, and Ed Harris. Catch it in theaters nationwide March 8th. 

2. Back to Black 

Marisa Abela steps into Amy Winehouse’s iconic beehive in Sam Taylor-Johnson’s biopic (in theaters May 17). The film follows Winehouse from her early days in Camden to the production of her multi-Grammy-winning album Back to Black and delves into the writing of her very personal lyrics, her tumultuous love life, and the making of one of the most legendary albums of all time. 

3. Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All    

We’re here, we’re queer, and we are all losing our shit over the new Indigo Girls documentary from Alexandria Bombach, coming to theaters this spring. Combining interviews and the Girls’ home videos, the film follows Amy Ray and Emily Saliers through their early days in folk rock, their battles with misogyny and homophobia, and their hard-won success as a groundbreaking band that helped millions of others feel seen.

4. Girls5eva on Netflix

Netflix is now home to the most hilarious show you may have never heard of. The third season of Girls5eva, along with the first two seasons that were originally only available on Peacock, are hitting the platform March 14. The series follows a pop group from the ’90s who are trying to make a comeback, played by BUST faves Busy Philipps, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Paula Pell, and Sara Bareilles

5. Palm Royale on Apple TV+

On March 20, Apple TV+ is premiering a splashy new series starring Kristen Wiig as a reg shmeg ’60s gal who tries to lie her way into the fancy-shmancy Palm Royale Resort. The all-star cast also features Laura Dern, Carol Burnett, Allison Janney, Leslie Bibb, Ricky Martin, and an illegal abortion. Based on the novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel, this show will have you hooked.

6. Mary & George on Starz

Inspired by the true story of Mary Villiers, this seven-episode Sky Original follows the sordid tale of a mother who sent her son off to seduce King James I. The drama boasts both a deliciously scheming Julianne Moore and dude butts galore. Peep it on Starz starting April 5. 

7. Rebel Girl: My Life as a Feminist Punk by Kathleen Hanna 

OG riot grrrl Kathleen Hanna is hitting the road in support of her new memoir, out May 14 via Ecco. Check out kathleenhannaofficial.com for dates, and if you can’t catch the book tour in person, there’s a livestream May 22 from Seattle. 

8. Mitski on Tour 

Singer/songwriter Mitski is crisscrossing North America and briefly popping over to London this year, playing shows in support of her seventh studio album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We. Tickets are available through September 25, but they’re sure to sell out, so grab ’em soon at mitski.com.

9. Caitlin Peluffo’s Comedy Album Dirty Bird

Comedian Caitlin Peluffo is releasing her debut comedy album on March 8 over at caitlinpeluffo.bandcamp.com. Her hilarious set digs into the benefits of dating a short man, touches on feminist porn, and introduces the term “jizz raccoon” into the vernacular.

10. Hannah Gadsby’s Gender Agenda  on Netflix

Groundbreaking comedian Hanna Gadsby is back with a new Netflix special, and this time, she’s bringing a posse. Gadsby will be presenting seven genderqueer comedians, including Asha Ward, Jes Tom, Krishna Istha, Alok, Chloe Petts, DeAnne Smith, and Mx. Dahlia Belle. Debuts March 5.
