Can't get enough of hip hop? Neither can I, but of course, we as ladies, cant help but to notice that "the game" is dominated by mostly men. There have been some females that rocked a mic and represented for the girls in the past -Queen Latifah, Salt 'N' Peppa, Eve, and lest we forget, the self-proclaimed Harajuku Barbie herself, Nicki Minaj. "It's been said that behind every man, is an even stronger woman" is the opening line of the shout out that DJ diva, Jasmine Solano, got on Jay-Z's lifestyle website, Life + Times, recently. They even recorded their record entirely the old-fashioned way, using ribbon microphones and analogue tape. That’s dedication. Read More

When noise/punk band Mika Miko split up, telephone-microphone hybrid fans were left heartbroken across the sprawl of greater Los Angeles (and beyond). Mika Miko were known for raising hell in DIY settings and venues, especially at downtown L.A.'s The Smell, where they played their final show in January 2010. Today, however, I am thrilled to inform everyone of Mika Miko's resurrection of sorts. No, the band is not back together. But the group's sister duo, Jessica and Jennifer Clavin, just released a single from their new project, Bleached. Read More
