SXSW Diaries: Day 1

So, Austin is nuts. Not only is SXSW music madness perfectly suited to this a very cool, weird, and musical city, it was a breezy 75 degrees, just delightful for wandering venue to venue to sample BBQ, beer, and bands. Totally a way I can happily spend my day. It's predictably hard to get into good, free shows, because of lines and crowds. BUST has landed in the middle of SXSW! After departing from Philadelphia  at 6:30 am, and with a two hour delay in Houston, we have finally arrived in Austin! BUST goes to SXSW!

This week some of the ladies from BUST will be heading down to Austin, TX for the annual music festival, SXSW! BUST has been a huge fan and participant in SXSW for years, not only sponsoring events, but throwing our own last year as well. Check out pics from the awesome Hangover Lounge last year here . Jack White, check. Alison Mosshart (Kills), check. the guy w the glasses (Jack Lawrence) from Raconteurs, Check. Someone (Dean Fertita) from Queens of the Stoneage, check.  Ok, put them all together and you get The Dead Weather, and judging from the two songs I've heard, this is going to be very, very good. They played a show last night at the opening of Jack Whites new Third Man Records building in downtown Nashville, and according to the press release, the invitations were exchanged for 150 limited edition 7 inch vinyl pressings individually painted by the band members.
