Chris Brown, hip hop darling/violent little puke, finally received his sentence for beating gal pal Rihanna this February. Brown will be paying his dues doing hard labor, attending therapy sessions to address his more vicious tendencies, and staying away from bars or other establishments associated with drugs or alcohol. Seems like a weak punishment: while the prohibition clause lasts for 5 years, the hard labor (which the New York Post describes as 'hauling trash and cleaning up properties' ) is only for a few months. No jail time, no house arrest, no nothin'. Read More

Ella Es El Matador, the first of three super BUST-y POV docs we featured in our Aug/Sept issue's 'Fall Preview' will finally be premiering on PBS on September 1st, and it's required viewing for anyone fascinated with the notion of female bullfighters in Spain. Here's more from PBS: 'For Spaniards - and for the world - nothing has expressed their country's traditionally rigid gender roles more powerfully than the image of the male matador. So sacred was the bullfighter's masculinity to Spanish identity that a 1908 law barred women from the sport. Read More

On any given night, there are about a million and one things to do in NYC. Usually the pressure to choose gets to be too much and you find yourself bunkered down at someone's apartment, playing competitive Rock Band and drinking a $3 beer from the corner store. But other nights present a clear path to a well-rounded event like the one that took place at Littlefield in Brooklyn on Saturday. The BUST-sponsored event was part of the second leg of Jessica Hopper's book tour for her 'how-to' opus, The Girl's Guide To Rocking. Read More
