On the evening of June 5, 2014, the ATAS held a panel appropriately entitled "Women Ruling TV" featuring the women of hit shows House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. Jodie Foster directed one episode of each, and Robin Wright directed an episode of House of Cards (on which she plays Kevin Spacey's cunning spouse). Taylor Schilling (Piper on OITNB) and Kate Mulgrew (Big Red) were also present, along with Netflix documentary The Square director Jehane Noujaim. Read More

It’s been nearly four years since Phoenix released their award-winning album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. This April will bring the release of their follow-up LP, Bankrupt! from Glassnote Records. Animated movies usually revolve around cute talking animals and macho heroes, but lately, ladies seem to be taking over the genre. Brave knocked fellow animated film Madagascar 3 off its pedestal at the top of box office last week--the former earned $66.3 million in the USA alone. This week, the international trailer for Epic (the 2013 animated flick from the creators of Ice Age) was released, and it looks like the movie may live up to its title. Read More

When you were a kid, did you ever find yourself looking forward to celery? Probably not, unless your parents did a really great brainwashing job. In that case, more power to them. Now, Disney is trying to step in and do that parent brainwashing job themselves. Or maybe we should call it reverse-brainwashing, in the way of removing all junk food advertisements.

The list highlights the “world’s most powerful celebrities” by assessing their monetary value and influence on the business world.
