Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward — also known as folk pop duo She & Him — are teasing our fragile little twee hearts with today's release of their newest single, “Stay Awhile.” The 1964 Dusty Springfield cover is off of their upcoming album Classics, and is just as nostalgic and romantic as the rest of their collection.
The album, composed entirely of covered songs from 1930 to 1974, will be released Dec. 2.

It's a damn shame that women still feel any sort of external pressure to procreate, especially when it's a totally independent decision. Yet, here we have a few dozen paparazzi and interviewers demanding an explanation from twenty-five female celebrities sans children. Zooey Deschanel had us all nodding with her quick rebuttal to the question: “I'm not going to answer that question. I'm not mad at you for asking that question, but I've said it before: I don't ... In a recent interview with InStyle Magazine, Zooey Deschanel let out a secret- not all women are dying to have babies! Dang it, Zooey, the men weren’t supposed to know!
In all seriousness, though, as someone who is not interested in having kids and hears all sorts of opinions on the topic (“You’re too young to decide!” “You just haven’t met the right guy yet!” “What if someday you’re with a guy who really wants ... Read More

Zooey Deschanel’s daily existence is evidence enough that feminists can be feminine as hell and run the show, but if you wanted more proof, listen in: She & Him's newest release, "I Could've Been Your Girl," was directed by Deschanel herself.
“After seven years and four albums with She & Him, I figured it was about time I took a crack at making a video for a song I wrote,” she says of her directing debut.
Check it out:

Jaws dropped when pictures were released of Zooey Deschanel sans her signature bangs at the Met Gala. Not that it looks bad or anything…as if that ageless, blue-eyed dollface could look anything less than adorable. I don’t think it’s in her programming. But it still caused a universal double-take of, “Wait, THAT’S Zooey Deschanel?”
It’s as if the Zooey Deschanel persona is so defined that altering it in any way is nothing short of blasphemy. ... Read More

Itching for some nostalgia drenched lyrics and sun bleached tunes? Luckily, America’s favorite manic pixie dream girl Zooey Deschanel and guitarist M. Ward have made another album as She & Him. Volume 3, which will be released on May 7th, is sure to feature the vintage pop style that She & Him do best, layering Deschanel’s sweet vocals over Ward’s masterful melodies. The AV Club might have the best community of any blog ever, which can quickly be seen in the fan-made masterpiece that just surfaced on their website. Commenter Captaindada's has made a perfect cookbook in To First Man, full of pop culture-inspired joke recipes you can actually cook! Much like the site's commenters, these recipes cut deep, like in the "Pizza House" recipe that you would assume is referencing House but is actually referencing our dorky queen Peggy ... Read More

The linguistic phenomenon of “creaky voice” has been well documented and, one would have thought, sufficiently argued about. If you’ve spent any time on a college campus in the past decade, or have even found yourself in the presence of young women in that time, you’re probably very familiar with what is called “vocal fry”. It’s that speech pattern, most evident in young women, that involves letting the ends of phrases ride ... Read More
Okay, so it’s not surprising, but after her interview in Glamour, the web is abuzz with the “news” about the BUST June/July 2010 cover girl.
She told Glamour, “I’m just being myself. There is not an ounce of me that believes any of that crap that they say. We can’t be feminine and be feminists and be successful? I want to be a f—king feminist and wear a f—king Peter Pan collar. So ... Read More

Twitter brings celebrities closer, removing the filter of publicists and managers with sometimes disastrous results…and sometimes amazing ones. Yesterday, celebrities Tweeted and Instagrammed their Halloween costumes like the rest of us, sharing some adorable, hilarious, and frightening pics with the rest of the world.
The best of the bunch has to be Neil Patrick Harris’s and David Burtka’s family’s adorable Wizard of Oz costumes (above), ... Read More
