Take your vagina into your own hands. Health-wise, I mean. Stick your hands down your pants all you want, but I’m going to tell you about DIY gynecology. GynePunk, a Catalan collective from Calafou, is working to develop an emergency gynecological medicine tool kit. Like a risk-reduction kit, but for your lady bits. This toolkit would let you take samples from yourself and test them without having to pay for a doctor or be subjected to the “bureaucratic, statistical forms that perform a role of judgement of your practices, capacities or choices,” as described by GynePunk. Summer officially started on June 21, which means these warm days are only going to get warmer. To cool down, the obvious way to start is by minimizing layers in our clothes. Unfortunately, this usually means running to the store to buy lightweight clothing, and if you’re anything like me, your budget cannot support the weather. Luckily, there is a way to keep cool, and it starts with our feet! Look to these awesome DIY sandals for a cost-effective way to sweat less this summer: 1) Cut Out + Keep’s Recycle Old Flip Flops This project is for anyone with an old pair of flip-flops. Read More
Curiosity cabinets gained popularity during the Renaissance, and are considered the precursor to museums. Originally, a “cabinet of curiosity” referred to an entire room filled with extraordinary items. Eventually, though, the term came to mean a single “curio” cabinet used to display a personal collection of objects—including (but certainly not limited to) preserved animals and bugs, bones, teeth, claws, feathers, horns, coral, stones, shells, plants, medical objects, drawings, paintings, interesting relics, and creepy doll heads. Are you missing Parks & Recreation? Have no fear—these crafts will help revive your love for one of the best shows to grace our televisions in a long while. Here are some fun crafts that pay homage to both the show and its D.I.Y.-superhero frontrunner, Leslie Knope. 1. This pattern advises to crochet a tiny horse in pink and white... but two shades of brown will better resemble Li’l Sebastian, the miniature horse (don’t call him a pony!) greatly beloved in Pawnee, Indiana.   2. These makeovers have me convinced that I should ditch Brooklyn and head for the woods, airstream in tow. No? Bad idea? Fine.    I love this one; they kept the rustic, camp-y feel minus the spiders and dirt.    I'm pretty sure this airstream has more counter space than my apartment does. I'm not bitter. (Yes I am.)    Am I allowed to choose favorites? I think this one wins. Anything with a bed and wifi wins in my mind, though.    Images via Design Sponge, Country Living, Apartment Therapy, Anchored Home Blog Read More On Bust. Read More

Most everybody enjoys a bit of sweetness in their beverages, but who wants to guzzle saccharine-filled, artificial drinks all day? Instead, try making your own fruit syrups; then keep them on hand to add a quick hit of flavor and a hint of sweetness to a glass of seltzer or a cocktail. These all-natural syrups contain nothing but honey, fruit, herbs, and spices, and they’re the perfect way to use the in-season fruit you got from your latest CSA share. Aside from drinks, you can stir them into smoothies and yogurt, or drizzle them on shaved ice or ice cream. Read More
