Bustettes, we got a lot of rocking to do, and a lot of fundraising to do, and what a world we live in that we can do both simultaneously.
The Brooklyn Women’s Collective is presenting the ALL GRRRL GRILL which just so happens to be a barbecue consisting of all your favorite things in one place.
Beats will be provided by Krunk Pony, Gracie Tara, Jlamar, Fefegirl Wonder, TJVSTheMachine, Jeli D (and there are talks of a silent disco… jus' sayin). Read More

Boobie Trap is not your average watering hole with nip-slipping waitresses. ( We're looking at you, Hooters.) It is, however, a smorgasbord of boobs. A galleria of the tit. A celebration of the nipple. A magical breast playground. (Am I pushing it? Okay. I digress.)
ANYWAY, Boobie Trap (your new favorite bar) has officially opened in Bushwick. Allison Davis of New York Magazine described it as a “John-Waters-meets-rockabilly bar-room environment” complete with “pink flamingos, leopard-print lampshades, and hot-pink Christmas lights. Read More

Brooklyn-based blues rock band She Keeps Bees dropped a new single from their forthcoming album recently, and the video for the song is just as beautifully surreal and eerie as the single itself.
"Is What It Is" comes out on the album Eight Houses on September 16th from the label Future Gods, which will be the band's fourth full-length album. I made my way down there to chat with Throw Vision – a band that hails from Brooklyn and consists of four players: Tiff O who is lead vox and guitar; Taja Cheek on keys, vox, bass, synth, and guitar; Dan Kleederman on lead guitar, bass, and vox,; and Alex Goldberg on drums/percussion.
Throw Vision’s name was derived in part from slang used in gay communities of color. Read More

Patty Griffin’s latest album American Kid was released a year ago. Since then she’s been touring to promote. Patty and her kick ass band came around again to NYC for 2 shows and I was lucky enough to go to her Music Hall of Williamsburg gig this past Friday night.
Ms. Griffin and company held the audience captive for 90 minutes with selections from Patty’s catalogue as well as a few surprise numbers. If I had to use one word to describe Ms. G. it would be eclectic. Patty and band performed at least 5 different styles of music through out their set. Read More
