Starting with a viral social media post by two Brooklyn-based artists, Jessamyn Fiore (a member of Knockdown Center's Curatorial Advisory Board) and Roxanne Jackson, the exhibition is an open call that resulted in nearly 700 artists submitting over 1,000 artworks. All artworks are available for sale for less than $100, with proceeds going to Planned Parenthood.
There are also over a dozen partner NASTY WOMEN exhibitions being organized in cities across the country and abroad. Full list here.
Knockdown Center is organizing an extensive lineup of programming, music shows, performances, workshops, and an informational fair over the weekend, with those proceeds going towards local organizations focused on women's reproductive health and community health initiatives.
