Your First Saturn Return

by Dre Grigoropol

Have you ever recognized that people tend to get a little bit cray when they turn 30? Every 29.5 years, Saturn enters the same constellation it was in when you were born. Your first Saturn return occurs when you are between the ages of 28 and 30. Does that sounds familiar?  Does it make you think of No Doubt’s album Return Of Saturn? It isn’t a coincidence.  Gwen Stefani wrote that album when she was going through her Saturn return in the year 2000 and named the album directly after that. According to astrologists everywhere, especially those who specialize in horoscopic astrology, the Saturn return creates an array of challenges and new tests in your life.

On October 5th, Saturn left the sign Libra and entered Scorpio. It is a big relief for me personally because my Saturn is in Libra. It was indeed a truly difficult and intense time, which when completed leads to a a positive transformation. Here is a handy link to a Saturn returns calculator.

One of the world’s favorite bloggers, Gala Darling, recently wrote a guide on how to handle going through a Saturn return. Some of her advice that stood out to me the most was…

  •  “Take responsibility for your thoughts & actions. I say this over & over & over, but now is REALLY the time to put it into action! You will never be in control of you life or your emotions until you start to own up to everything you think & everything you do.”
  •          “Start journalling, if you’re not already. My Saturn return started on Saturday (!!!) I have literally been waking up in the middle of the night with profound thoughts & realisations about my own patterns & psychology. Take notes of all of these things! It is one of the best ways to work through them.”
  •          “Learn to view change as a positive thing. During your Saturn return, you might get divorced, lose your job, or realise your friends weren’t ever really there for you at all. All of these things HURT, but they only hurt as much as you allow them to Recognise that getting divorced creates space in your life for someone who truly loves  you. Losing your job frees you to follow your passions & do something meaningful. Discovering the truth about your faux-friends will allow real, true, deep  friendships to emerge.”
