Solange has announced her newest project: a home line with IKEA. And we could not be more excited to remodel our homes.
On Thursday, The Cut reported that the singer-songwriter’s creative arts company Saint Heron will be producing a line with furniture mogul IKEA. The company’s statement details how the line will be “exploring architectural and design objects with multifunctional use.”
Solange founded the art collective Saint Heron in 2013, with the goal of using art to create “the community that we wish to see exist.” The brand has previously worked on pop-up shops throughout the country, created varied art installations, and hosted multidisciplinary art events in various cities. All of these efforts are in the vein of furthering their company’s mission of highlighting voices in various communities through the unifying force of art.
Lonny reported that Marcus Engman, head of design at IKEA Range & Supply, said that the company is “curious about the creative space in between architecture, design, art, and music and how that could come alive in the homes of many people. This is what we want to explore together with Saint Heron.”
On their website, Saint Heron details how they pride themselves in how they “outgrew normalcy’s insular web of creative collaboration.” We look forward to seeing how they push the boundaries of home design with their line with IKEA, inspiring us to revamp our thoughts interior design and architecture.
