Solange Is Going To Direct SZA’s Next Music Video And We Can’t Wait

by Seeta Charan

It’s official! Solange will be directing the music video for SZA’s “The Weekend” off her album Ctrl! SZA confirmed with USA Today what fans had been hoping for for months. When Solange and SZA planned a hangout on social media in July, fans knew something amazing was on the way. Solange posted a video of her lip syncing to SZA’s Love Galore on Instagram, and SZA tweeted her fangirling over the video and proposing they meet up.

Now, they’re going to combine their creative genius and make a music video for “The Weekend.”

Very little information has been released on the video, besides the fact that they’re collaborating on the song, but SZA did say a bit about the layout. SZA says it will have 10 scenes and 10 looks which hopefully means it will be over the top and needlessly elaborate.

SZA is only getting started though. She teased a deluxe version of Ctrl after retweeting an old dance rehearsal video, writing, “Man this video is literally shot n edited ..regret not putting it on the album. Das wat da delux is foe.” She also worked with Maroon 5 on a song called “What Lovers Do,” which was released this week. Her video for “Drew Barrymore” had an appearance from Drew herself, and the rest was SZA and her friends running around New York in what looks like a dream. SZA is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and she and Solange together are sure to make an amazing video.
