Sleater–Kinney had a twelve-year career with seven epic albums; they exuded raw, riot grrrl energy everywhere they toured. The band received high praise from Rolling Stone for “pushing rock to the boiling point,” and Rob Sheffield called them, “America’s best punk band. EVER.” Not counting their 2013 reunion (joining Pearl Jam to cover Neil Young), it has been eight years since fans have had pure Sleater-Kinney goodness.
However, the people at Sub Pop Records are giving fans a real gift. On Oct. 21, Sub Pop is releasing a box set, called Start Together of all seven albums remastered and pressed on color vinyl with a 44-page book of exclusive photos. The box set is limited to 3,000 copies but fans can preorder Start Together and begin streaming the remastered albums today.
To hold us over until October, a promotional video was released for Start Together which includes rare live footage of the band! Wouldn’t now be the perfect time for the women of Sleater-Kinney to stage a reunion tour to support the box set? Aug/Sept cover girl, Carrie Brownstein, spoke nostalgically about the band, so we’re looking at you, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss! Until then check out the video here!
