Mary J. Blige’s new show from Apple Music, The 411 with Mary J. Blige, will premiere with an “intimate conversation” with Hillary Clinton.
Following Monday’s first presidential debate, Apple Music released two promo videos previewing the interview, which promised both Blige and Clinton “like you’ve never seen them before.”

The first clip shows Blige serenading Clinton with a song about police brutality. It’s a fairly bizarre scene, given the nature of the interview, but Clinton nods along stoically as Blige describes the fears of African-Americans when dealing with police officers. The singer even samples the chorus from Bruce Springsteen’s “American Skin,” singing: “Is it a gun? Is it a knife? Is it a wallet? This is your life. It ain’t no secret. It ain’t no secret, no secret my friend. You can get killed just for living in your American skin.”
Blige gets back to the actual questions with the second promo, saying to Clinton, “a lot of people in my community think that Obama was blocked in Congress because he was black. How are you going to do what he wasn’t able to?”
