Kate Bush Goes on Tour for the First Time in Over Thirty Years!!

by Amy Carlberg

As Queen Bey takes her rightful place on the Pop Diva Throne, suddenly something happens which reminds us that some of our biggest stars are mere princesses in the face of music history.

The news that Kate Bush will be playing fifteen August dates in London for her first tour in thirty-five years broke the icon’s official website. Bush has made only the rarest appearances during these past three decades. The shows will take place at the London Eventim Hammersmith Apollo, so you’ll have to cross the pond to see her unless you already had plans for a Parks and Rec reenactment tour. Minus airfare, tickets range from £49 to £135. The venue is the exact place where Bush played her last big show, way back in 1979. It’s also smaller than you’d expect for an event of this magnitude, with a capacity of only five thousand.

The singer is known for her theatrical performances, which makes this an appropriate time for Kate Bush to resurface, as younger generations have had their eyes opened to dramatic conceptual pop music with the popularity of Beyonce’s recent visual album. As pop stars’ concepts grow progressively more elephantine, it’s time to remind them who paved the way. However, the singer said she won’t be dancing as much for these shows, in contrast to her first tour, for which there were seventeen costume changes each night.

That said, the upcoming tour promises music that has never been seen performed live before. This makes these shows a very special opportunity, for loyal long-term fans and those who weren’t born in time to catch that last 1979 performance alike.

Can’t make it? Don’t fret, old chap. Brew a cuppa tea and comfort yourself with some Bushy GIFs.
