Recently, GOP candidate, business tycoon, and repulsive sexist pig Donald Trump has become a major target on Twitter. This onslaught of tweets with the hashtag #periodsarenotaninsult is coming from women who are live-tweeting their periods. And man, never has live-tweeting been so amusing.
After his clash with Fox News correspondent Megyn Kelly (p.s. I cannot get over this name spelling) during Thursday night’s GOP debate, Trump told CNN’s Don Lemon: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.” Wherever? Many took this comment as not only a major sign that Trump needs a lesson on female anatomy but also as him attempting to insult Kelly by suggesting she was challenging him because she was on her period.
Trump denied this and claimed anyone who believes he had been talking about periods must be a “deviant.” In a statement issued by his campaign, Trump wrote, “I was going to say, nose, and/or ears. Because that’s a very common statement. Blood flowing out of somebody’s nose, and remember she had great anger when she was questioning me.”
(I couldn’t get this image out of my head after I read his statement)
Since Trump has already well established himself as a misogynist asshole, no one’s really buying that one. His claims certainly didn’t do much to stop the tweets from women detailing where they are in their cycles to prove that menstruation can never be used as an insult against a woman.
