Fortunately, for we lesser beings, legendary designer Christian Louboutin is about to change that. The shoe-guru is launching the “Nudes” collection, featuring five of his most famous designs in five shades that range from a dainty petal to a rich coffee. “They disappear like magic and become a fluid extension of her legs, as in a sketch, elongating the silhouette,” said the designer.   The online world has been a buzz with photographer, Petra Collins, and her menstrual blood-themed t-shirt. Collins designed the shirt, which is illustrated with a menstruating hairy vagina (vulva), especially for American Apparel. Commentary on the product has ranged from disgust to intrigue to even some who see it as pure feminist genius. This shirt is cool because it leaves little to the imagination. I think it is a beautiful feminist statement but would I wear it? Well, possibly... Read More
From: Philadelphia, PA and Brooklyn, NY Occupation: Audiovisual Artist Tell me about what you’re wearing. The glasses are vintage Renato Balestra, they were about $60. The bustier and the skirt are also vintage—they were both under $20. The jacket is Couture Vulture, a collaboration with Haddington District; it retails for $190. The combat boot/sandals are Jeffrey Campbell. I believe they were $140? The rose necklace was a gift; it’s from Han Cholo. I always wear a rose motif in honor of my grandmother, whose name was Rose.   Since a study came out about the long term effects of high heels on women's health, I’ve noticed a slew of essays, blog posts, and editorials on the cultural implications of what we choose to put on our feet. After scouring the web for insights, it’s hard to determine exactly how women feel about high heels.  Buzzfeed reports that shoes were used to “immobilize women” starting in Imperial China and the Middle Ages. I found out their products are 100% vegetarian and 100% natural. The company was actually founded by an animal welfare organization, so you know they're legit. Naturally, their mantra is all in the name. They sent over a few products and I'd like to tell you a little about products like Rosehip and CandyFloss. Read More
