Found this awesome video of Patti Smith on an episode of the late-70's/early-80's TV show "Kids are People Too," via Lesley's blog who found it on Kathleen's blog.
I love how Patti explains punk rock by saying that "Rock 'n roll's gettin' back in the hands of the people, it belongs to the kids again, not the big business guys" and the host just kind of mumbles in response, "We can go for that, I think..." Also, what kind of a kid wants to be a missionary when they grow up? And OMG, those lame-o wings hair cuts and the neutral colored cowl neck sweaters? Yup, I rocked that back in the day. Read More

I was able to see them last Thursday in the dark and intimate underbelly of Brooklyn’s Union Hall, and spoke to Martin Dosh briefly from his van before the show. Read More

Friday is now twice as nice because MIA released a new track today called "Born Free." The sound is a slight departure from her earlier albums as it loses the drum-machine, beat produced sound, and instead opts for a punk-rock, fuzzed out riff and reverbed vocals. We love it!
M.I.A.- Born Free by FirstUp!
Her much awaited album is coming out June 29th of this year. Read More
