The incomparable Jon Spencer Blues Explosion are playing a rare gig this Friday at Brooklyn Bowl! It's gonna be epic so get your tickets now.  The Blues Explosion was formed way back in 1991 by Jon Spencer (Pussy Galore), along with bassist Russell Simins and Judah Baker. The Blues Explosion is real, tear your hair out, flip your wig rock 'n roll, not for the faint of heart. I've seen these guys play plenty of times, and they are true showmen, they NEVER disappoint.  I can't wait! Also playing, Golden Triangle. Read More
In Best Coast's latest video, "When I'm With You," Bethany Cosentino's spacey, fuzzed out brand of surf rock (or glo-fi, if that's what you want to call it) is accompanied by scenes of her having a romantic day at the beach with none other than America's favorite fast food clown. Playful and funny, the video is sure to brighten your day. Read More

Singer/songwriter and one of Paper Magazine's beautiful people of 2010, VV Brown, will be making an in-store appearance at the Apple Store, SoHo! Interviewed in our Feb/Mar issue, we love Brown for her DIY approach to recording, her ability to draw influence from ska, britpop, and 60's girl groups, and for her striking fashion sense.  She will be performing songs from her debut album, Travelling Like the Light at the Apple Store on Tuesday, April 20th, 7:oopm at 103 Prince Street, New York, New York.  See you there!   Image courtesy of VVBrown. So last night I had a free pass to go see Small Black play a show at Music Hall of Williamsburg, but opted to stay home and work on my night cheese instead.  This morning I am riddled with anxiety about having missed it, because I am quickly becoming a massive fan of their melodic Casio stylings. Their debut self-titled EP is set to come out later this month on Jagjaguwar and it's pretty much a perfect little nugget of lazy keyboards, casual boy singing, and electro thumps. Read More

Imma be up front here.  Ke$ha's songs are dumb.  They're vapid and silly and they don't make sense ("kick them to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger?"  Girl, have you SEEN Mick Jagger?!)  Behold:     <--- That's him.  You can change your mind now.  But despite her bad taste in men, I think the girl might be a witch.  All I know is when "Tik Tok" starts playing,  I start flailing and everyone has to back up about 5 feet so I can get my dance on.
