Shock Value

BY Web Intern in General

Amnesty International is running a new ad campaign in the UK. Their posters are being displayed on the trains ('tubes' if you're across the pond) and their message is getting a lot of attention; 'RAPE IS CHEAPER THAN BULLETS'. For a nonchalant passer-by, this poster might not be doing its job. Some folks have deemed the ad offensive, as can be expected for any signage with 'bullets' or 'rape' present. For others it won't provoke any more than a 'what the fuck?!'. Read More

Biker Babes

If you're in the Chicago area, make sure you head out to one of these local hotspots and pick up a Thought You Knew (TyK) Pin-Up calendar. With 100% of the proceeds going to the Chicago Women's Health Center, and a slew of sexy ladies gracing the pages, it's definitely something worth checking out. Plus, the monthly hotties aren't your run-of-the-mill models; they're everyday girls, bike messengers to be exact! The gal behind this project, Alexis Finch, rounded up her fellow female 2-wheelers, and photographer Michelle Nolan carried out the project. Read More

These are amongst the wonders you will find when you travel down the rabbit hole that is SANTO GOLD. A few months ago my YouTube Tzar, Alex Kaplan, informed me of this golden nugget. My back, hours after cupping. Photo by Atom Moore I go almost every week to get acupuncture from a fabulous woman named Michelle LaDue. I started going for anxiety, which acupuncture has really helped, and now whenever I go, we chat about how I'm feeling, what my body and mind are experiencing, and what I'd like to focus on that day. Sometimes it's PMS, sometimes it's a lack of energy, and sometimes it's just a tune-up. I am also a fervent believer and user of Western medicine, mind you, but from my own experience, acupuncture is a great tool in my quest for personal health and knowledge. Read More

So excited that George Michael finally came around to agreeing to be in the movie version of Arrested Development. Hopefully this movie will actually be made, since it's probably one of the funniest shows ever. While I love each and every character, I think my favorite is Gob (aka Amy Poehler's husband, Will Arnett). Cmon! via E. Read More

Weave stops bullet!!

BY Laurie in General

A Kansas city woman has her tightly woven weave (I mean God) to thank for saving her life. Apparently her boyfriend shot at her and luckily her weave stopped the bullet. 'I've invested a lot of money into this weave and it saved my life.' Now that's what I call a good hair day. Read More

Mmmmmmm Ward.

I've always been a fan of this Portland, OR, based crooner's scratchy voice and rockin' piano/guitar skills, so getting to see him last night at the Apollo (not nearly as big as it looks on TV! Who knew?) was nothing short of awesome. He played a few slow jams by himself, opening with the title track, 'Hold Time,' off his brand new album, then rocked out with his band and even brought a few members of Brooklyn Americana crew Oakley Hall out on stage (loved those ladies' harmonies!). Make Tomorrow Epic.

I was out of commiss last weekend with the flu and vertigo, the flu is on its way out but no telling about the vertigo. It seems like it is getting better, or maybe I am just getting used to it. Either way, I will just die if I have to lay around the house for another weekend, even if it is in the snuggie. Read More
