I gave up sugar a few weeks ago, after realizing it was the basis of much of what I was eating. A hot chocolate (or 2) here, some chocolate sorbet there, the occasional poptart, pumpkin bread with chocolate chips,  chocolate hazelnut biscotti—yes, there was definite theme going on. The detox was brutal but now I'm finding I don't miss it. But, a few days ago, I fell back under its spell. I was browsing etsy.com and came across homemade chocolate marshmallows. The photo was riveting. Read More
Cupcakes are delicious. It is a proven scientific fact. I for one believe that cupcakes should be one of the major food groups.  Here at Bust, we received package containing a wonderful cupcake kit from Saint Cupcake, a bakery in Portland Oregon! Simply awesome. Saint Cupcake's frostings and cupcakes are handmade and super fresh with no synthetic flavorings! They have lots of different flavors and even have vegan friendly varieties. Read More
We’ve all read about or watched a movie about the terrifying processed food industry and its effects on how we live. The blame has reasonably been put on the corporations that somehow manage to produce modified “food” in record time, but the death of the family meal has been blamed for the increased need of (or addiction to) fast food. And who is to blame for the death of the family meal? Women, or specifically second-wave feminists, according to Michael Pollan. Read More
Why don't women need to wear watches?  Because there's a clock on the stove!  I'm running out of good sexist jokes, but I think I heard that one in middle school and somehow it stuck with me. Of all the stupid things you can say about women, that they belong in the kitchen is a classic.  Or rather, it's outdated.  With each year, we move farther and farther from a society that says it's a woman's job to cook.  Unfortunately, our progress is not so evident in those cases when it really is a woman's job to cook. Pour Some Sugar on Me

BY Elissa Stein in Eat Me

Last week I gave up sugar. I realized that while I thought I was a relatively healthy eater, I was basically living sugar fix to sugar fix with not much in between. Hot chocolate in the morning. Lunch time iced coffee with half and half and double splenda, a squirt or two of chocolate syrup stirred in. Chocolate sorbet on the way home from yoga. Mini ice cream cones before I went to sleep. A salad or some pasta thrown in at points, but just as often, a biscotti, perhaps a poptart, some vegan hazelnut chocolate cake. Read More
The Sex and the City 2 trailer has been out for a while but I've been avoiding it. As a former resident of the Persian Gulf, I dreaded what it might look like when our fearless foursome landed in the desert. But after finally getting around to reading this month's issue of Vogue featuring Sarah Jessica Parker, I had to. Sam gets four all-expenses paid tickets to Abu Dhabi (as you do) and the girls put their lives on hold for a reunion tour. We've got camels and sand and frolicking. Woo-hoo! Having lived in the Persian Gulf, and been to Abu Dhabi, I am dumbfounded by their choice of Emirate. Read More
My local coffee shop in NYC has been promoting a new product called Fat Pig. The concept and packaging almost feel like a design student’s portfolio project, edgier than you’d expect to actually see produced in real life. Each think square brick is wrapped in hot pink foil, on top of that, a hot pink wrapper imprinted with a pig’s snout. So, should you want to be cute/funny/silly/entertaining/flirty, you hold the bar up to your face and boom: insta-pig. And that’s before you bite into $6.50 worth of organic chocolate. Read More

Over the last ten episodes, the ladies of RuPaul’s drag race made us laugh, made us cry, made us know fierce.  And while they learned from Ru, they taught us about teamwork, self-respect, and how to make your country outfit really transition with a rip-away skirt.  On Monday, a new drag superstar was born.  Tyra Sanchez was the controversial choice for queen of the queens, and below, she lets us know she’s here.  Work. Your hair looks GREAT. Read More
<--- He's a winner! I'm not really into sports.  And I'm not really into Nike either.  And I don't really pay that much attention to sports endorsements BUT when Nike endorses sexual assault offenders even I'm like, "What the hell, Nike?  You managed to not meet the exceedingly low expectations I have for you.
