Suzanne Morissette proves that on her wedding day, she is not just a pretty porcelain doll exclusively to be looked at, toasted to, and fawned over. Her lucky husband is clearly sticking with Morissette for life not only because she's a hottie patattie, but because she has major chops!
He's standing just off to the side in this video, actually, playing in the band. I hope he got to enjoy his special day as well, but as the cliché goes, it's all about the bride. Read More

My mom and I are both obsessed with weddings, even though neither of us is getting married any time in the distant future. I guess our fandom is justified, seeing as my mother is a florist who works with brides all the time and I was brought up in that same atmosphere -- that is to say, surrounded by happy brides and blooming peonies tucked carefully in hydrangea bouquets.
Here's my mom and I, presenting at a garden show. Read More

The dress is constructed from about 1500 pages of one set of divorce papers photocopied multiple times. And yes, she did have to cite her work. Read More

Ah, wedding dresses. What a bride chooses to wear to her wedding is a sacred choice. Different colors and different shapes can represent how a gal chooses to enter into a lifetime with the person she loves. Every outfit is as unique as each woman herself; a really good wedding dress can help to express the ways in which she and her partner love one another. So can location, for that matter. Whether it’s a church or a beach or in the middle of the woods, the place at which couple chooses to wed is crucial. Read More

If I'm going to be completely honest this is the first I've heard about Lady Gaga for months, but let's forget about that for a minute.
Recently Gaga went to Mexico for a high school friend's wedding and as it turns out, she looks totally subdued as a bridesmaid. Just wavy blonde hair and a soft peach dress. There was nary an absurd colored wig or shawl constructed of slaughtered Kermits. Thank goodness.
I'm proud of her for taking this route. Though I gave my best friend the go-ahead to have a mohawk as my maid-of-honor (I dunno, we were 15... Read More
In the U.S., the bride and her parents are expected to pay for the wedding, the gown, and to be in charge of the wedding arrangements. However, in China it is the opposite. Instead, grooms are expected to pay a “bride price” – ordinarily $10,000 – often alongside purchasing an apartment and a car. A more traditional and old-fashioned practice, these wedding standards are taking over China and redefining marital practices, affecting both Chinese men and women. Read More
