Like any talented photographer, the late Mary Ellen Mark’s photos leave us wanting to know more about her unexpected subjects. Luckily, NPR’s Chris Benderev tracked down the child who was featured in one of Mark’s most memorable shots entitled, “Amanda and her Cousin Amy,” and here’s what we learned:

Thanks to FRUiTS, the world can keep up with what the ladies of Harajuku, Tokyo are strutting in on a daily basis. The monthly street style magazine has been snapping shots since the mid 90s, and the August issue is filled with the usual volume of fresh and fearless fashion. I’m sure that there will be a couple of people who read this headline without reading this post first and say something along the lines of “What the eff BUST! This isn’t news…” Hear me out.
It’s no news that one in six women have been sexually assaulted in their lifetime (and one in thirty-three men), and a lot of victims don’t even report their abuse, so the statistic is most likely much higher. Read More
