Deap Vally is an LA-based rock duo made up of guitarist and vocalist Lindsey Troy and drummer and vocalist Julie Edwards. The duo formed in 2011, after the two women met at a crochet class, which is a totally rad band meet-cute. Deap Vally has been describes as "a scuzzy White Stripes-meets Led Zeppelin rock and roll duo."  Earlier this month, Troy and Edwards released a video for their newest song "Royal Jelly," featuring supermodel and fellow musician Georgia May Jagger. We have an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the live performance here. Read More
It's been four long years, but Adele is back with her new single and music video, "Hello," from her upcoming album, 25. The long-awaited release comes just in time to get us through the dark months of rain, wind, and the holidays. Don't worry! If the "Hello" music video is any indication of what's to come, Adele will be there for us ladies with more power anthems--inspiring shower singers the world over. According to the 27-year-old songstress, 25 - out November 20 - is a make-up album, not a break-up album. Read More
Rock noir duo Elysian Fields gears up for the release of their latest music video “Alms for Your Love," directed by Kevin Weir.  With Jennifer Charles on vocals and Oren Bloedow playing guitar, not much has changed for this band since ’95—in a good way! Their penchant for collage-like dream sequences has persevered along with their disturbed lullaby sound.   If you aren’t familiar with Elysian Fields, their sound is sensual, surreal, and a little bit spooky. Dream pop band Correatown is back with a beautiful new music video for their song “True North,” and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere it on BUST.com.  “True North” was shot on Lake Lanier, Georgia during sunset and at the Mayan Ruin Ek Balam in the jungle of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula just after sunrise.  Angela Correa says of the video, “‘True North’ explores themes of steadfastness, celebration and listening for and believing in that quiet elusive voice inside that confirms joy and beauty.“For the video I was hoping to explore adventures big and small. From the Aussie comic group Skit Box and director Christian Van Vuuren comes a hilarious and catchy video that blows all our cover. Now everyone knows we’re headed to the couch and not the gym when they see us in our Lulu-best. These ladies make light of the athleisure trend, while admitting to being inactive activewear wearers themselves - so it’s all in good fun. Skit Box told Mashable.com, “Who cares if you haven’t used your platinum fitness first membership in 7 months? You’re still a go getter — in your activewear. Read More
Earlier this year, director Sal Bardo released his 17-minute sci-fi video Pink Moon. In the video, straight people are a minority in a world of queerness, which sounds pretty ace to me. Bardo has now followed up with a chilling tale of desire and longing in old age in his new video, Great Escape.   The video relays the story of a 70-year-old woman living with her husband but not lacking in curiosity for the world beyond a lifetime of heterosexual monogamy. In the video, the woman abandons her spouse for a woman she loved quite a long time ago. Read More
Margaret Cho has been performing her song “Fat Pussy” for live audiences at her stand-up tours and other events for years. The song is not only funny, but also kind of beautiful. Cho’s voice sounds as good as any teen pop sensation, and her lyrics are more clever, amusing, and meaningful. Many of us have been a fan of the song for a while and now we have something new to be excited about. Who's trying to check out my Fat Pussy? Come inside...http://t.co/opZ7LtquIc pic.twitter. Rose McGowan’s new music video, “RM 486,” is a Totally Safe For Work piece of feminist art. Back in June, McGowan reveled in her new freedom that arrived in the form of being fired from her agency for her tweet about a sexist Adam Sandler movie script "The awesome thing about being an artist? You can't be fired from your own mind. #freedom." McGowan is taking her mind and her freedom and making the brutally honest art that she wants to make. Read More
Put your dick in the air – it's the phrase that has everyone talking about singer-songwriter-producer, Peaches, again.  If you're unfamiliar with Peaches, let's catch you up to speed: she is a Canadian musician notorious for raunchy lyrics including, "Fuck the pain away," and "We all want tush, if I'm wrong, impeach my bush." She also frequents headlines for her disregard towards gender norms, and like aforementioned, she's back at it for the first time since 2009. Read More
All-American pop star Taylor Swift premiered her latest video, “Wildest Dreams,” this Sunday at the VMAS. In the video, Swift prances around in an enviable collection of luxury dresses on a faux 1950s movie set with Scott Eastwood. Swift and Eastwood co-star in the theoretical mid-century colonial film, gallivanting together across open landscapes and waterfalls that suggest ‘untamed,’ African beauty.  If this isn't obviously racist colonial nonsense to you, I don’t know what to tell you.
