The Birkin bag by Hermès was designed for Jane Birkin in 1984, who complained to the then-president Jean-Louis Dumas that she couldn’t find a bag that was both stylish and practical. He designed one for her, calling it the Birkin bag. The bag comes in numerous styles, but one of its most popular variations is made from crocodile skin, and costs at least $36,000.

In his new book, titled “The Dirty Side Of Glamour,” the photographer Tyler Shields unveils a subversion of conventional celebrity portraiture. The artist, known for his liberal use of blood and guns in his portraits of Lindsey Lohan, is showcasing new shots of celebrities in erotic and often perverse or unsettling positions.
