First eBay, now this?! Etsy has banned users from selling spells. To get technical, a vendor can still sell them, but are prohibited from claiming that they do anything.

When eBay banned the selling of spells and other metaphysical objects in 2012, people turned to Etsy for their metaphysical products. It had fairly simple rules about the sale of these objects—as long as the seller provided some sort of tangible object, proof that the spell had been cast, and warned that spells may not work, everything was permissible. For seven years, NBC’s The Golden Girls brought the fantastic lives of Blanche, Rose, Sophia, and Dorothy into our televisions. It has since passed down to our younger generation through syndication and popular culture.
Unlike many other shows featuring a group of women, the Golden Girls weren’t young twenty-somethings trying to figure out their lives, these were fifty (and eighty) somethings trying to figure out their lives. The show reminded us that women’s lives don’t just stop once their children are grown or if they are widowed/divorce. Read More

A political craze in Detroit, Colorado has taken the shocking form of IUD glitter earrings. These funky pieces of sparkly jewelry are being used to make more than just a fashion statement—they are becoming symbols of support for House Bill 1194, which would give extended funding to the Colorado Family Planning Initiative, originally set to expire on June 30. The bill would provide $5 million dollars to low-income women, giving them access to IUDs and other reversible forms of contraceptives. Read More
