There’s a brand-new building going up in my neighborhood, about a block from my subway stop. I’m not even going to bother explaining what that means. If you're a woman, you know the deal.
As I approach, I feel my shoulders rounding forward, my gait shortening and shuffling. My eyes are Super-Glued to the sidewalk. I want to hide, but I can’t get to the subway unless I go down this particular block, and here they are, and here comes the low whistle ... Read More

You may remember Buffi Jashanmal from season 10 of Project Runway. We at BUST remember her as an awesome former intern! The self-proclaimed fashion badass and DIY enthusiast showed her colors (literally! HA.) and crazy style on the competitive reality series, but she definitely wouldn’t stop there. Buffi already launched a fashion line in Dubai, and is now releasing a book, Make-It-Rock Dress Design through Storey Publishing. Now you can see a showcase of ... Read More

The iconic artist’s clothing has been locked away for almost 60 years, first under the guard of Kahlo’s husband Diego Rivera and later of close friend Dolores Olmedo. After Olmedo passed away in 2004, the Mexican painter’s wardrobe was finally released for the first time in decades.
Frida Kahlo is widely known for her striking self-portraits and the influence of her Mexican heritage in her paintings. Her wardrobe also demonstrates her ... Read More

Get ready for a long weekend, BUSTies! Many offices and workplaces around the country will close on Monday for Memorial Day, a holiday commemorating fallen service men and women. This holiday, along with honoring the millions that have died for our country, marks the impromptu start of summer. Though the season doesn’t officially start until June 20th this year, Monday heralds the imminence of those hazy, lazy days of summer: days full of beach trips, ... Read More

We have to admit, there's something a bit predictable about donning dresses that look like they're made of flowers once the clouds start to lift and the mercury starts to rise. Despite the fact that it's been done before, there's just something about floral prints that goes hand in hand with nice weather. And today in New York, where the high is slated to be in the mid-80s, it's the perfect excuse to indulge in a little flower power. Florals don't have to look ... Read More

I'll buy any piece of clothing—socks, underwear, dress, t-shirt—if there are stripes on it. My fondness for stripes probably has something to do with my love for repetition; I find it to be very calming. Also, I think stripes make people look cool, and I like to think that my coolness (on a scale of 1=low to 10=high) goes from a 1 to a 3 when I wear stripes. Pretty impressive.
Here's a small roundup of striped dresses that I've got my eyes on.

How many times have you stood in front of your closet, staring into space? You know that feeling that comes with the familiar little voice. I haven't got a thing to wear.
Have no fear, the alum from All Star Challenge, Berber Soepboer and Michiel Schuurman created the Colour-In Dress. Now, instead of fussing over a garment that's the wrong color or pattern...you can make your own! Reminiscent of coloring books and doodling in class margins, ... Read More
