Since 1999, thousands of people have flocked to a remote valley in Southern California every year in search of music, desert, and the timeless cool of Festival. It has become quite the maiden voyage for some young women—a journey and an event that has far deeper significance than any other weekend party or camping trip. Naturally, humans crave peak experiences, heightened awareness, and spiritual expression: music festivals are historically a motherland for this. Woodstock, Burning Man, and Coachella are a part of our American vocabulary. Read More
The weather is heating up again, and so are things for the young pop star. Lorde is the first female artist ever to dominate Billboard adult album alternative airplay with two songs. "Team" follows the New Zealander's quadruple-platinum hit from last summer, "Royals."  "Team" made it to #6 on Billboard's Hot 100, and her debut album Pure Heroine has sold over a million copies in the U.S. Read More
As a several year veteran of Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival (which, for those in the know, is the dubious lovechild of Burning Man and Coachella), I now feel able to offer advice on that fraught annual conundrum: should I go to _____ music festival? Coachella" for access to all the basic cruise amenities as well as some pretty awesome concerts. Read More
Coachella is a place where celebrities and concert go-ers alike blend together in a sea of festival style. While it’s still a bit chilly in N.Y.C., it warms my style spirit to see spring dresses, fancy sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats galore. These pictures are a breath of fresh air as spring officially begins and people are wearing more and more color! It’s only going to get warmer here, but I hear it was pretty warm at Coachella already. You gotta hand it to these stylish folks. Looking this put together in desert heat definitely takes some skill. There are many sassy ladies out today that I admire and the enigmatic Charlotte Gainsbourg is one of them. She's a whimsical musician, talented actress, and now she's going on tour! (Oh, and she's in our Feb/Mar issue, by the way!) The North American tour is going to kick off in April, on the cusp of her bangin' album, IRM (produced by Beck). Her North American tour includes a stop at Coachella on April 18th, going on stage before Pavement, Thom Yorke, and Gorillaz. Read More
