After four weeks of posting mysterious pictures of lyrics online, Lorde finally released her new single “Yellow Flicker Beat” for the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
Lorde’s voice is as haunting as ever when she sings, “I’m a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm/ And the scars that mark my body/ They’re silver and gold” She wrote on her Tumblr, “It's my first offering from ... Read More

In case you’ve been in hiding in a cabin in the mountains, you know that there have been films made based on Suzanne Collin’s The Hunger Games trilogy. Vanity Fair released new photos featuring stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Helmsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, and Sam Claflin, each dressed in attire from the second movie in the series, Catching Fire.
Can we talk about how great the cast looks in the promo ... Read More
Geena Davis is pretty much my hero, and we were thrilled to spot her hanging out around our BUST Craftacular space at Maker Faire this weekend. The actress has a long history of debunking female stereotypes in her films. In A League of Their Own she became a female athlete who made history; in Beetlejuice, she portrayed a warm, loving lady ghost who saved a teenage girl from being forced into a marriage with a demonic spirit. From her role in Thelma and ... Read More

That's right, our favorite charming heroine of Hollywood has now surpassed Miss Bella herself. Stewart was raking in the dough between May 2011 and May 2012, boasting $34.5 million that year alone. This past year, though, between May of 2012 and 2013, she dropped to $22 million.
Meanwhile, Jen Law gained a whopping $26 million between June 2012 to June 2013, thanks to the epic Hunger Games blockbuster. (P.S. Lionsgate paid her $1 milli for the movie ... Read More

Many gals out there are anxiously awaiting the June 22nd premiere of Pixar’s Brave. Starring a feisty red-headed archer named Merida (voiced by Kelly MacDonald), this doesn’t look like your typical prince-saves-helpless-damsel flick. But don’t think this little lady is the first ... Read More

Recently, I was hanging out with a friend who told me that she has been obsessed with making Katniss Everdeen braids lately. I immediately thought (after reading The Hunger Games series and watching the movie four times,) "WHY HAVEN’T I TRIED THAT YET?!" So I went home, researched what I needed to know, and started practicing. Here are some DIY tutorial videos, so you can get that Katniss-style braid too!

Tonight could be your lucky night, BUSTies. It's World Book Night in the UK, Ireland, and the United States. The daytime will see UNESCO's International Day of the Book, which falls yearly on April 23 in honor of Shakespeare and Cervantes' deaths. When the sun sets though, self-appointed "givers" will take to the streets and pass out books to lucky unsuspecting passersby.
The givers registered with the World Book Night organization and received 20 ... Read More

The Hunger Games are maybe the antithesis of anything hipster--a multi-million dollar blockbuster written for twelve year olds and playing at only the most mainstream of multiplexes? Definitely not standard hipster fare. For some reason, though, the young adult series has really struck a chord in my circle of tattooed, bespectacled, bicycle-riding twenty-something friend group. We can't get enough of Katniss Everdeen.
Reading the books, I couldn't help but wonder ... Read More

Ever since Niki and the Dove’s debut EP popped up in the BUST office last fall, I’ve been dying to see them live (and blasting their spacey, technicolor dance pop on repeat at the gym). Last week at the Under the Radar day party, I managed to catch one of their many sets at SXSW, and they absolutely lived up to the hype I’d been building in my head for months. The rest of the crowd seemed to feel the same, because Niki and the Dove finally got ... Read More
