Brody Dalle has been a powerful voice in rock ‘n roll for nearly two decades. After breaking out with her fearless punk growl in The Distillers, the singer/songwriter and guitarist revealed a cool, modern sound in indie rock band Spinnerette. On April 29th, Brody makes her solo debut with Diploid Love, an alternative rock record that builds on all she’s achieved thus far.

VH1 counted down their list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music last week, and while I feel some ladies were overlooked and others given a spot they shouldn't have, I do applaud VH1 for recognizing the contributions that female musicians have made to the music industry.
The list spans the past two decades— wow, has it really been that long since the 90s? Many of the ladies on this list broke musical barriers, fighting their way into arenas that were usually male-dominated, and their influence paved the way for some of this generation’s greatest performers. Ok, I’m gonna duck and cover here, and say I don’t hate Lana Del Rey. Maybe I don’t care enough to have such strong feelings, but I’m truly perplexed by the deep hatred people have for her. Even here in the BUST office, Team Lana only comprises about 30 percent of the staff. You’d think she’d murdered kittens while wearing an NRA tube top. Look, she’s no Adele in the singing department, and yes, I object to a 24-year-old girl getting lip injections (you don’t need ’em, Lana) but really, Internet, simmer down now. Read More
