You see this weird ass plastic-looking thing? Apparently it's a condom, and it could be the next big thing in safe sex. The Origami is a collapsible silicone condom inspired by, well, origami, and it's designed to be a stronger, more comfortable, and realistic alternative to latex. They're also going to make a variety of condom types, including a male, female, and anal condom. From what we can tell, it looks a little thicker than the typical latex condom, but it seems like there's some pretty snazzy technology at work here. If you haven’t picked out your Valentine’s Day gift to yourself yet, we’ve got you covered. Beautiful Bastard, a new novel by Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings that launches on February 12th, started out as online Twilight fan fiction. The authors then edited and reworked their piece for publication. The book is about Chloe Mills, an ambitious intern who falls for her domineering boss, Bennett Ryan. Chinese couples that need a little help making a baby can now rely on the least sexy place on the planet—their local hospital—for passion (at a price).  The Songziniao Hospital in Wuhan city, Hubei province, hopes to encourage couples to procreate in their decked out sex rooms, which go for 880 Yuan (about $140 US) a night.   The rooms look like the kind of “love nests” you’d find in by-the-hour hotels, with dim red lighting, round beds, and plenty of sexually explicit artworks (to encourage the patrons to get busy, of course. It comes as no surprise that America’s laws regarding teens and sex are bonkers and a half. The subject of sexuality in people under the age of 18 is still considered taboo by many Americans, and is simply unfathomable to others.   “I’m not a performer, I’m a pervert,” says Dixie De La Tour, the host and curator of cultural phenomenon Bawdy Storytelling. Called “The Moth for Pervs” by LA Weekly, Bawdy Storytelling is all about people sharing their best, worst, most unusual, or most meaningful sexual experiences—all in 10 minutes or less. At a recent Bawdy Storytelling event at Brooklyn’s Galapagos Art Space, De La Tour sat at a little table on the front corner of the stage, her shoulders peeking out of a black ’50s-style dress.   In case you haven’t heard (after the uproar stirred by the Post this past week), a handful of New York City public schools have been testing out a program that dispenses oral and, more recently, injectable contraceptives, as well as the morning after pill or Plan B, to female students in need. Dubbed “CATCH” or Connecting Adolescents to Comprehensive Healthcare, the pilot program launched in January of 2011 and managed to fly under the radar. Since then, CATCH has been quietly at work in 14 schools and has dispensed care to approximately 1,000 students. Read More
