Finding women in the comic book world is kind of like shucking oysters and suddenly finding a pearl. In a world of murky sexist content you might find 1 in 15 artists working on comics are female, and “female writers and artists are sporadic at best” says Tim Hanley, a comic book blogger.

Looking to have a grand old time this despite Tropical Storm Andrea’s wrath? The Grand Comics Festival is this weekend in Brooklyn. It is at the perfect time to be at a comics festival, which is from 11 am-7pm. This is where you’ll be able to find indie comics, zines, prints, get commissions, meet cartoonists, and more.
