Lululemon Founder Chip Wilson is Sorry For Being A Jerkface

by Katie Fustich

It was just last week that good ol’ Chip Wilson made some pretty brainless comments about how Lululemon’s products are “not for everybody.” Essentially, he told anyone over a size 0 to GTFO of his store.

Now it’s damage control central over at Lululemon, and Chip wants you to know it’s all his fault. He released a video via Lulu’s Facebook page on Friday afternoon. Here’s his statement in its entirety:

“Hello, I’m Chip Wilson. I’m founder of Lululemon athletica. I’d like to talk to you today about the last few days of media that’s occurred around the Bloomberg interview. I’m sad. I’m really sad. I’m sad for the repercussions of my actions. I’m sad for the people at Lululemon who I care so much about, that have really had to face the brunt of my actions. I take responsibility for all that has occurred and the impact it has had on you. I’m sorry to have put you all through this… For all of you that have made Lululemon what it is today, I ask you to stay in a conversation that is above the fray. I ask you to prove that the culture that you have built cannot be chipped away. Thank you.”

First, you’re totally allowed to laugh at that un-intentional pun (…punintentional?). Second, notice how NO PART of that apology is directed at his customers or the women he made the comments about? Nope, just to the staff he is supposedly somehow wounding. Funny thing is, I don’t think anyone is thinking a woman who works at a Lululemon store is an idiot…Nope Chip, that’s just you. But see how “saaaaad” he is? He’s probably been locked up in his room all weekend listening to T. Swift. Poor thing.

It’s gonna be okay, Chip. There will still be women who will buy your poorly-made, overpriced pants. I just won’t be one of them.
