Body positivity is slowly gaining momentum as we all grow tired of seeing the same body types in the media. Amy Herrmann, an Australian photographer, has decided to contribute to the movement by creating an amazing book, Underneath I am Women, that will showcase 100 women of all different shapes. The book will also detail their personal backgrounds and intimate relationships with their bodies.
The Kickstarter-funded project is designed to help women overcome insecure and negative thoughts by photographing their bodies and “sharing the stories that shaped them rather than succumbing to the fictitious default stories that have long been associated with various body types.”
The empowering message chants, “UNDERNEATH, WE ARE… young, fat, tall, WE ARE trans, skinny, disabled, WE ARE mothers, WE ARE short, scarred and old. We are the many labels that society has created for us. But what if I told you that underneath, underneath it all, I AM… determined, tenacious, strong, capable, loud, resilient… would you see me differently?”
This project will help reduce judgment around certain labels, as well as help women grow positive and healthy feelings around our bodies. Click here to help fund this amazing project.
