It goes without saying that we need more girls in rock ‘n’ roll. The path has been laid out by greats such as Aretha Franklin, Patti Smith, and Kathleen Hanna, but who’s next? Come support rock ‘n’ roll’s future of talented girls and ladies by checking out the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girl’s 4th Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Auction, hosted by the ever entertaining Mr. Murray Hill tomorrow night at the Knitting Factory. Get down to performances by Kaki King, Erin McKeown, and Saffire. Bid for chances to win gift certificates for the New York School of Burlesque, Gotham Girls Roller Derby, Brooklyn Brewery, and tons more! There will also be special guests (hm, maybe someone from the VIP pre-auction reception? There’s only one way to find out…) General admission and VIP tickets are on sale now at williemaerockcamp.org/auction. A VIP ticket will get you into the pre-auction reception hour with Kathleen Hanna and Kaki King, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, gift bags, and a mini drum lesson.
Can’t make it but still want to support? Bid on awesome rock memorabilia at the Rock Camp’s eBay auction, featuring a guitar autographed by Cheryl Crow, a microphone autographed by Tori Amos, or a guitar autographed by Roseann Cash, just to name a few. Bid from now until February 11th at 7:00pm and take advantage of an opportunity to help girls and ladies continue to carve out their space in rock & roll.
When: Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 8 p.m. (VIP pre-auction reception 7 p.m.)
Where: The Knitting Factory, 361 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn or online at the Wille Mae Rock Camp eBay Auction
