Oh, Siren Fest bliss.

No! The sweat, and the heat, and gnarly funk of hipster B.O., and the epic 45 minute train ride that goes on forever, and the ridiculous mass of people did not keep me away! I went and I saw and I was blown away. First, hot dog in hand, my socks were officially knocked off by Noisettes‘ front-woman Shingai Shoniwa who rocked so hard the stage was shaking and who’s stage presence and overall aura is not one to be missed. Check out page 92 of the June/July issue of BUST for more on her. Then, I moved to the Stillwell stage to check out the adorable Becky and band that makes up Lavender Diamond. Though the venue didn’t seem right for her soft, angelic voice, she made up for it by being quirky and cute and just plain loveable. Prancing around the stage, ranting between each song with talk of her plans to build an eco-friendly amusement park powered by sustainable energy (as soon as she gets that 50 million dollars she needs that is!) and her theory about all matter being a myth, and leading the audience in cheers for Planet Earth (the best planet there is!), she had me in giggles the whole time. But it was Matt & Kim (a local band out of Brooklyn) that took the cake. If you’ve never heard Matt & Kim before, you need to. Besides being absolutely adorable and totally rocking, they were so incredibly gracious to be playing Siren Fest that Matt’s voice was cracking with giddyness every time he tried to speak. You can’t help falling in love with them and You certainly can’t not dance with a huge dorky smile on your face in the presence of this band. It might be the most fun i’ve had at a show in a while. Do yourself a favor and check ’em out now!

p.s. sorry for the poor quality of the photo, i took it with my cellphone : )
