Cast A Gratitude Spell For Dr. Christine Blasey Ford

In a nation where no sufficient structures are enforced for sexual perpetrators, survivors too often receive no justice. Out of every 1,000 rapists, 994 rapists walk free, according to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network. So it’s no surprise that witchcraft has seen a resurgence in response to the Trump administration and, as of late, Kavanaugh’s confirmation. In recent years, witchcraft has become associated with progressive political causes.

The pagan political organization WitchtheVote encourages voters to support candidates in defense of feminist and progressive causes, and last year, a Facebook group amassed around 13,000 members, for the purpose of casting regular binding spells on Donald Trump. This #magicresistance helps survivors process trauma by fostering community and solidarity and satisfies “a gap in the societal order by providing a structure and a vocabulary for issues that American culture more broadly has not yet satisfactorily addressed,” writes Tara Isabella Burton for Vox.

A particularly high vibrational ritual that has been circulating the internet is a gratitude spell for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Written by @celestight for WitchtheVote’s Instagram, the spell symbolizes the unity of survivors in support and honor for Dr. Blasey and her activism. All you need is a candle, matches or a lighter, salt, paper and a pen or pencil. Sitting or standing in a comfortable place, ground yourself in mindfulness and light the candle. Sprinkle salt into one hand and while holding it, write down a note of gratitude to Dr. Blasey. The spell is flexible as tributes are personal and varying but the sentiment is the same. A Gratitude Spell for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford Tools: A candle and lighter/matches Salt Paper and pen/pencil Sit or stand wherever you’re comfortable. Ground yourself and light the candle. Pour some salt into one hand and hold it gently while you write a thank you to Dr. Ford, something like “Thank you Dr. Christine Blasey Ford for your courage and sacrifice” or even just a simple “I believe you, I support you”. You can make it a sigil if you want. Now sprinkle your salt over your note, and picture the salt glowing softly, blanketing the paper. Place your hands just above your salted note, not quite touching it. Close your eyes and picture all your gratitude and loving support pouring from your hands in the form of warm light. Feel its tinglies flowing from your palms and dancing around the note, making the salt sparkle like prisms. Picture the salt absorbing all of the abuse and threats that Dr. Ford and her family have suffered through this ordeal. Brush the salt off the note, sweeping all that gross energy away with it. When you feel you’ve poured all the support you can into the note and cleared all the salt off, picture Dr. Ford seeing it in front of her, reading it, and putting it in her pocket.
