Hillary Clinton Heeds Young Women’s Voices In Awesome Conversation Series

by kelsey haight

If there is one thing of which Hillary Clinton has convinced me, it’s that she seriously gives a shit about making women’s voices heard. She is constantly making strides towards equality, but tomorrow she will specifically zero in on the voices of young women around the globe. Thanks to the Clinton Foundation, a new lecture series has been born to give Clinton and young women the opportunity to connect and discuss. Girls: A No Ceiling Conversation debuts tomorrow afternoon in New York City at The Girls Club. Attendance to the event is exclusive but will live stream at 3:00pm on April 17th

The event is, “designed to provide a forum to hear from girls and women around the world.”  Clinton will sit down alongside her daughter, Chelsea Clinton, and will be moderated by actress and advocate America Ferrera. This is a chance to address issues, accelerate progress, and accentuate the sacred voice of young girls. Most importantly, this event exposes young minds to the importance of taking on leadership roles, being heard, and discussing about what holds us back and how WE CAN SUCCEED.

The Clinton Foundation has taken numerous strides for Women’s Rights, and now democratically calls upon the public to move forward. According to the foundation, “full participation is the unfinished business of the 21st century and is critical to achieving prosperity, stability, and security across the globe. No Ceilings is convening partners to begin a data driven evaluation of the gains women and girls have made over the past two decades and the gaps that remain.”

I also have to commend Clinton for rapidly becoming a modern-day riot grrrl…except she is wearing a suit and remains hella diplomatic while she works out the feminist agenda. She is crucial to inspiring younger generations to fight the best fight. Clinton hopes to bring together the best data to pinpoint the smartest solutions to advance the status of women and girls. “Through the No Ceilings project, we will also outline a 21st century agenda to accelerate full participation for women and girls around the world. The project will convene the private sector, government, civil society, and individuals to accelerate progress toward this agenda.”

Ladies from the Girls Club, the Girl Scouts of the USA, Girls Inc., Girl Up, the Young Women’s Leadership Network and four schools from across the country will also contribute dialogue. Again, the event will be streamed to allow people from around the world to join the conversation remotely and ask questions via online video streaming and Twitter. You can follow the conversation on Twitter at #noceilings. This  dialogue will bring together girls to talk about their lives, experiences, and hopes for the future. Thank you for the opportunity, Hillary, and for always being an amazing role model for girls. The world needs more women who stick together and unite for the greater good of all. Here’s to inspiring and supporting young women everywhere. <3
