Once again, Elizabeth Warren has denied her plans to run for the presidency (and once again, we’re bummed about it). In a recent interview with Fortune, the senator bluntly said ‘no’ when she was asked if her name would appear on the ticket in 2016.
We’re still excited to see Hillary Clinton’s rumored bid continue gaining ground, but the more powerful and outspoken women on the political scene (or any scene, for that matter), the better. Warren’s fearless rallying against Wall Street and Capitol Hill in defense of working and middle class America has made her a refreshing leader who regularly aligns herself with the general public, recognizing that “Washington works for the rich and powerful and not for America’s families.”
Very few politicians match Warren’s level of popularity: Two years as an influential senator have made her a household name. The rumors she might run for president have circulated for years now, and her supporters aren’t willing to give up just yet. The Draft Warren effort is still egging the senator to throw her hat in the ring, and Democracy for America and MoveOn have stated that …
Senator Warren has been clear for years that she isn’t planning on running. If she were running, there wouldn’t be a need for a draft effort. We launched the Run Warren Run campaign to show Senator Elizabeth Warren the tremendous amount of grassroots enthusiasm and momentum that exists for her entering the 2016 presidential race and to encourage her to change her mind.
So maybe this won’t be the last we hear about Warren in the White House. We hope not, anyway.
