Alpine to Release Disturbingly Good LP

by Kari Belsheim

Alpine is a Melbourne-based pop band with a distinct dark side, and I couldn’t be more psyched that they’re hopping across the pond to grace us with their presence. The sextet, signed by Ivy League Records, puts dreamy vocals on top of bouncy, danceable percussion. Their debut album, A is for Alpine, will finally be released in the U.S. in 2013 (it’s been available in Australia since August).

Alpine’s videos can be a bit strange (spoiler alert: one of them features a girl fondling a dead animal in the shower), but they will definitely have you dancing in your cubicle/studio/birthday suit. My favorite single, “Villages” is extremely catchy—I’ve had it on repeat for a while—see it below.

Alpine will be performing at the Mercury Lounge on March 7th and Glasslands Gallery the following day. Tickets will be on sale Friday.
