Check Out the First Photo Ever Uploaded to the Internet!

by Sonia Edwards

The very first photo EVER uploaded to the web has just surfaced, and it’s just as good as we always hoped.  It’s a promotional shot for an all-female comedy group, Les Horribles Cernettes, based at the Nuclear Research center in Switzerland. Yeah, pretty random.  The photo was posted 22 years ago by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the man who created the World Wide Web, according to The Guardian.

They continued to play shows until 2012, and were “known and loved by some 20,000 High Energy Physicists worldwide,” their official website boasts. The band sang about “colliders, quarks, microwaves, antiprotons and Internet,” and was created at the same time as the Web, in the office right next door. Check out their song “Collider” here!
