From the lady who brought you the best ode to pubic hair ever written (video below, in case you haven’t heard it) comes a brand new studio album and art book. Yes, we’re talking about Amanda Fucking Palmer. The performance artist turned singer-songwriter has assembled a new band, The Grand Theft Orchestra, and has taken to Kickstarter to fund the production and distribution of the new CD. After breaking with her major studio label, she was unsure how to fund her music. But AFP’s fans have come out in droves, raising over $400,000 (that’s 4 times her goal!!!!!) in two days.
She has 28 days left to raise as much as possible, and if you dig her tunes, help an independent artist out and donate. She also commissioned over 30 visual artists to create works inspired by her songs and is releasing those in conjunction with the album. It’s been four years since her last album, and we are busting with excitement (pun intended) to see how this project turns out.
