‘Tern the Beat Around

by callie watts

Today was a sad day at BUST HQ, three of our working-hard-for-no-money BUST-ies are leaving. With such a small staff, we rely on our interns for everything. From fact checking to fashion shoot pick-ups, these labies have their youthful paws in everything. We get them for at least 3 months at a time and for at least 3 days a week. It’s revolving door of dank-ness, constantly changing. Poor Deb Stoll has seen so many ‘terns through the years she has trouble remembering them all. Her trick, hair shape! It’s not by the look of your face but the shape of your locks that resonates in her head. On the bottom of my endless to-do list is to make her a hair shape chart so she can keep up.
Whenever we have to see one off we throw a little appreciation party. Usually we pretend we are having a story meeting and gather around the table ambushing them with cupcakes, cream puffs or cheese plates. Today it was cupcakes and ice-cream cake! As intern wrangler it is my duty to give them a decent send off which includes a going away box of awesomeness. I try my darndest to give them goods that they wont re-gift. Today we saluted Scott Durwood, Whitney Dwire, and Katherine Goldstein. Whitney busted loose some sweet vocal skills at a karaoke bash for Emily’s Birthday recently and everyone was floored. So, I put a karaoke kit in her box and Debbie demanded one last song. Things got pretty craz during “Dancing Queen”. We had indeed entered the Friday zone. Look at her giving us something we can feel!

In the back is Katherine in purple, Laurie in green and Lisa B in giggles.

I know I will see them again, but tonight ladies, I tip my 40 to your memory! Thank you so much.

P to the S. If you want some info on interning holla at your girl, [email protected]! I am desperately seeking some ‘terns from March 2008 and on. If you want the summer slots get on it now. They fill up the fastest. Also, I am hella slow at replying but I always do…eventually.
