Remember the dreaded “humor gap” idea about men always being funnier than women? And that bogus pseudo-science Vanity Fair piece on the topic? Oy vey. I wish that was the only case of weird dudes telling the world women aren’t funny, but alas, the shoddily lobbed insults keep coming. If only we had a sweet comedienne to put this shit show to rest.
OH WAIT, WE DO.
It’s Ellie Kemper from Bridesmaids and The Office, hey girl! This week ... Read More

You may remember a few weeks ago, BUST mentioned an awesome new web series: Kelly & Lindsey Do New York.
Quick reminder: Former BUST intern Lindsey Gentile has teamed up with her best friend Kelly Wallace-Barnhill to produce a five part series about surviving in the Big Apple without having to try. The duo write, produce, and star in the project. Just writing that makes me feel exhausted!
Well, Episode 1 has been unleashed on the world and is ... Read More

“Vaginas are power!”
“You can’t just leave your dog at the gay bar”.
These are snippets from the upcoming web series Kelly & Lindsey Do New York. By these two quotes alone you can tell it is going to be amazing.
Former BUST Intern and all-around hilarious babe Lindsey Gentile has teamed up with her best friend Kelly Wallace-Barnhill to produce a five part series about surviving in the Big Apple without having to try. The ... Read More

The competition is on to create the next 30 Rock-- there are some incredibly buzz-worthy pilots in the works for fall, including an Andy Samberg cop show and a Seinfeld-esque vehicle by comedian and SNL writer John Mulaney. We're on pins and needles for both, but what's currently called The John Mulaney Show looks more impressive by the day. While it already boasts writing from one of the best comedians of the moment*, its cast will include such ... Read More

If we're to believe commercials, diverse groups of lady friends love nothing more than sitting around in yoga pants, having in-depth discussions about their two fave topics: birth control and yogurt. If you've noticed this trend, or even if you're blissfully unaware, this fake yogurt commercial from Yahoo! is a must-watch, not just because it is a damn hilarious parody of marketing ploys directed at women, then because you need (NEED) to see Weird Al’s face at ... It’s time for one of BUST’s most beloved holiday traditions: entertainer Murray Hill’s annual Christmas extravaganza!
Head to Le Poisson Rouge in New York’s West Village this Saturday, December 15th, for the famed drag king’s cheeky and comedic variety show. This year, Murray’s motley crew finds that the theater they’ve booked is still out of commission following Hurricane Sandy—but the show must go on! Guided ... Read More

All of us here at BUST love ourselves some funny ladies. That’s why we're going to talk about how the online show Broad City is worth checking out for a good hearty laugh.
Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer are the creators and stars of the online comedy series Broad City. The 2-to-7 minute long webisodes depict life in the city for the two uncomfortably awkward twenty-somethings. And the ladies have been at it since 2010.

Big news in the comedy world: Kristin Wiig and Bill Hader, two of my favorite funny people from SNL are reuniting, this time on the big screen. Wiig and Hader will team up to star in the dark comedy The Skeleton Twins, set for release in 2013.
The story follows the estranged twins after each manages to narrowly defy death on the same day, adding a supernatural twist to the comedy. As a result, they come together to figure out what has gone wrong with their ... Read More

While everyone in NYC was attending various CMJ shows and events last week, I was fortunate enough to be visiting Paris. Which was amazing beyond words. The city, the food, the wine, and the people: all c'est magnifique! But no cool rock shows, mes amis. One of the things that saved my evenings from CSI and Bewitched reruns dubbed in French was stand-up comic Margaret Cho, who was performing in town as part of her current tour, MOTHER.
