In support of same sex marriage and the freedom to love, Central Park’s Bethesda Fountain will be the site for a massive “unwedding” this Sunday, February 13th. Administered by Reverend Billy Talen and the Church of Life After Shopping; married supporters are encouraged to unmarry their spouse in wedding attire at sharply 1 pm. Unmarriage is anticipated to encourage Governor Andrew Cuomo to continue his campaign promise of equality within New York State.
The Church of Life After Shopping and Reverend Billy (www.revbilly.com) organize and promote towards an equal future through theater, humor, and grassroots organizing as a product of The Immediate Life. The project values “participatory democracy, ecological sustainability, and preservation of vibrant communities and local economies” (http://www.revbilly.com/about-us).
Last year supporters gathered in Central Park for an unmarriage ritual to defend the freedom to marry any person of choice and for equal protection under the law. With accompaniment of love songs and the gospel choir of Life After Shopping, EVERYONE is encouraged to attend!
