Today a very special box of books came into our office.
We’ve been waiting very patiently for Tina Fey’s new book, Bossypants, and man are we stoked and honored to be mentioned on its pages! I plan on reading the entire book immediately but so far, I’ve laughed out loud a few times at the random pages I’ve perused. A long time ago (2004), before Tina was the media mogul she is now, we put her on our cover, and we’ve always remembered the shoot and time spent with her fondly. She was funny, smart and super friendly that day, and guess what? She remembers it too, and says nice stuff about us!
And I quote: “It was a low budget shoot in the back of their downtown office. There was no free coffee bar or wind machine, just a bunch of intelligent women with a sense of humor.”
She then goes on to discuss her opinion on Photoshopping images, “Feminists do the best Photoshop, because they leave the meat on your bones. They don’t change your size or your skin color. They leave your disgusting knuckles, but they take out some armpit stubble. Not because they’re denying its existence, but because they understand that it’s okay to make a photo look as if you were caught on your best day in the best light.” Aw, that is so true!
Anyway, go buy this book; it’s funny and will make you smile, it’s got man hands on the cover, and is just another reason to love Tina Fey (as if you needed one).
