OK young ‘uns, listen up. A long, long, time ago, in a dark age before Twitter, there was an era called the ’90s that fostered a kind of weird ass music called acid house, and the best acid house band was the KLF . They produced one of my favorite party songs of that decade, ‘ Justified and Ancient,’ a totally insane club banger that featured none other than country music legend Tammy Wynette . Despite my love of this song, however, the absolutely INSANE video they made for this song completely eluded me…until now. My smartypants gal pal Brandy Barber just pointed me towards this incredible gem on YouTube this afternoon, and I just had to share. Watch it, and then watch it again:

Emily Rems is a feminist writer, editor, rock star, playwright, and occasional plus-size model living in New York’s East Village. Best known as managing editor of BUST magazine, Emily is also a music and film commentator for New York’s NPR affiliate WNYC, and is the drummer for the horror-punk band the Grasshoppers.
