Youtube is a video sharing smorgasbord, full of beauty gurus, gaming videos, celebrity news and then a ton of weird shit. I call the grey area of the website “The weird part of Youtube,” and that grey area of the popular website is where you find videos you would’ve never thought you wanted to watch but can’t stop watching it.
Videos in this grey area include: Speed Eating 100 peeps in a little over 2 minutes, How to look like Drake, and How to make you look like your finger got chopped off.
But today I want to talk about the best gem I’ve ever discovered in the weird part of Youtube and that is “How to Make a Doll Segway.”
I discovered Youtube user MyFroggyStuff one late night/early morning while perusing the Internet in bed. “How to make a doll segway?” I said out loud “WAAAAAAAAAT?” I responded to myself befuddled. I was too curious, so I clicked the link in the sidebar and entered Narnia.
MyFroggyStuff is a Youtube channel dedicated to dolls. While she reviews dolls, has her own doll show and does craft reviews, what makes her channel the best thing ever are her DIY’s. Now I’m not sure if it’s because I’m in that too old to play with dolls – too young to have children playing with dolls age range, but I just didn’t think this sort of thing existed on the Internet.
Now I say this thing falls into the category of “the weird part of Youtube” only because again, never realized this sort of thing existed and because I would never guess that I’d want to watch these videos. But here I am, not only having watched dozens of times myself, shared with all different kinds of friends, but am also literally writing an article about how amazing this Youtube channel is.
She teaches us how to make doll vending machines, bassinets, edible food for dolls, swimming pools and all of it is virtually cost free and eco friendly. I shudder at the thought of how much money my child-self forced my parents to spend on toys and specifically doll accessories that are now collecting dust in the closet back home.
And I’m not the only one that thinks these videos are strangely mesmerizing and fucking awesome, the first page of her most popular videos range from 1.4 million to 3.6 million views, making her a craftacular success!
You can visit her Youtube channel, website and blog for more information.
